Buddhist Thangka Painting
Below are few thangkas that I’ve recently painted.
Traditionally they are stitched in silk brocades (which I got from Nepal). However recently I have started painting them onto wooden boards covered with gesso, which is a mixture of chalk or gypsum and glue. It’s been used as a base for Icons for over 1000 years.
